From Across The Pond, Day Three

Each night, we sit around the table, making plans for the next day. Friday night's plan for Saturday had been breakfast on the beach followed by a trip to a castle. The gray sky and Zephyr's late wake-up altered our plans. After a breakfast of chocolate pastries

we piled into the car and went to the nearby town of Girona.

(I can't go on with out pointing out that Girona rhymes with Sharona, and, for some warped reason, I can't see, hear, or think of Girona without the Knacks 1979 hit, My Sharona running incessantly through my mind. I've even managed to pass this unfavorable trait onto Zephyr, who sings out "My Girona" upon mention of the city. "It's like my thoughts are outside of my body," I observed.)

Girona has a sidewalk built on the wall that runs around the entire city, designed to protect them from invaders back in the 1400's. We took a stroll along this wall.

Zephyr enjoyed imagining he was shooting arrows at invaders.

We think of Jubilee's fashion sense as very European.

At this point in Jubilee's life, she is obsessed with picking up and carrying small objects. This time, it proved somewhat useful, as she asked Godfather Alan to burn them in the fire that evening. I'm not sure their utility was worth the embarrassment when she accidentally poked another restaurant patron with a stick.

We had a pizza lunch, then headed home for our nightly hot tub and cava ritual. Jubilee fell asleep on our way home, but we didn't let her nap for too long, and thought we had sealed our fate for an upcoming good night of sleep.

But again, that was not what the fates had in store. I stayed up too late watching a movie with Alan and Vincent, while Jon fell asleep putting the kids to bed. By the time I went to bed, Jubilee was tossing and turning. She cried out frequently throughout the night. Somehow, Zephyr slept through most of it. At some point, Jon got up with the kids, and everyone came in to awaken me at 9 am, which felt like 1 am to my MST sensibilities. It was sunny out, there were no other sunny days in the forecast, and we were going to the beach.

I'm so glad you're writing and sahring the pictures! I didn't like the idea of being out of contact. Jubilee's haircut is cute and she really DOES look like Zephyr used to!

Did you know your kids would have been able to play in the snow today, at home?
