And we're rolling...

We have this album called Philadelphia Chickens, by Sandra Boynton. One of the songs, Cows, has been running through our collective minds for months now. It would be irritating, but it's a decent song, so we're okay with it. Cows must be outstandingly catchy; Jon and I realized we had only listened to it a handful of times before we started singing it under our breath almost continuously. Which is why our lyrics are a little different from the originals, just in case any of you are familiar enough to catch it.

Anyway, if you were a fly on the wall of our house, you would undoubtedly hear one of us singing this:
Cows.
We're remarkable cows.
And wherever we go,
it's quite a show.
Don't you know we are cows.
That's right we're cows.

Last night Jubilee delighted us by singing through the verse all by herself for the first time. Then we tried to get it on camera. Here are our attempts:

Nearly perfect, before she got distracted by the
thought of a popsicle.

This time, she was interrupted by Zephyr
whining that her head was on his pillow.
Could he have been a little jealous?

Not bad...

I should have quit while we were ahead, but,
on the quest for perfection, I pushed it a little
too far.

Since the spotlight is on Jubilee, I'll also take a moment to preserve her first thirteen word sentence. Not completely factual, and a bit of a run-on, but this is what she told us on Monday. "Some monkeys eat grass and bananas and raisins and some monkeys drive motorcycles."

Wish you could hear it!

OK, a little late to comment, but on the line of jumbled song lyrics - Wolfie's version of Istanbul (not Constantinople) contains the following:

Even Old New York was once New Hamstertown

Why they changed it I can't say ...
